The Palau de la Música Catalana. An architectural jewel of Catalan Art Nouveau. The only concert venue in this style to be listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Today it represents a prominent piece of cultural and social history in Catalonia. A symbol for all who identify with its history. Construction: (1905-1908). Location: Ciutat Vella. Placa del duc de Medinaceli. The square contains a special centerpiece. The monument to Admiral Galcerán Marquet cast from an iron technique used first in Barcelona. The base is surrounded by palm trees. Typical of nineteenth century city decoration. Construction: (1844-1858). Location: Ciutat Vella. Architect: Francesc Daniel Molina (1844-1858).
